Blast Wheels

At the heart of the LS Difference is the technology involved in the blast wheels that have been designed for our various assortment of LS Blasters. The engineering behind the wheels listed below have been done to make sure that you have a reliable, easy to maintain machine. Direct Drive Blast Wheels

Blast Wheel Well

LS SureShot™ 10” Direct Drive Blast Wheel

The LS SureShot™ 10” direct drive blast wheel is designed to perform at optimal levels for a very long life and for simple maintenance. Made of wear resistant chromium / molybdenum alloy with a secondary heat treatment for optimal, reliable performance. Each wheel consists of eight replaceable blades mounted to a balanced hub. Blades are balanced in pairs and installed to maintain low vibrations.

The LS SureShot™ impeller is capable of throwing abrasive at 240 feet per second. The LS SureShot™ wheels deliver unequaled abrasive concentration across the work for faster, more even cleaning with less wheel wear. This performance means faster production rates.

The LS SureShot™ 10” direct drive blast wheel is ideal for small machines and concentrated blast patterns, like the 12” x 12” Structural Blaster. You can add a variable frequency drive to the blast wheel to be tuned to meet specific blast and finish requirements.

LS SureShot™ 15” and 24” Bi-Directional Direct Drive Blast Wheels

The LS SureShot™ bi-directional direct drive blast wheels are designed to last a long time and to be easy to maintain. The wheel blades are made of wear resistant chromium / molybdenum alloy and goes through a secondary heat treatment process to ensure lasting performance. This material and process ensure that the blades resist wear up to 200% longer than comparable wheels. The balanced blade sets and the precision-machined wheel parts compliment the long-life and increase the production.

The wheel is bi-directional, meaning that it has the ability to throw abrasive clockwise or counter-clockwise. The eight blades are symmetric and do not require additional blades for reversing directions. The LS SureShot™ impeller is capable of throwing abrasive at 290 feet per second. The LS SureShot™ wheels deliver unequaled abrasive concentration across the work for faster, more even cleaning with less wheel wear. This performance means faster production rates.

The blades have a quick release design to allow for easy maintenance. The full assembled wheels will be 15” or 24” wide. There are two width options available for the wheel control cages, the blast pattern can be set to most effectively blast the specific parts. There is also an option to add variable frequency drives to the blast wheels allowing for fine tuning the blast and finish requirement.

The 15” SureShot™ bi-directional direct drive blast wheel is used for table and pass through blasters with motors ranging from 7.5 to 40 HP. The 24” SureShot™ bi-directional direct drive blast wheel is used for larger pass through blasters and could be used in extremely large table blasters. The 24” SureShot™ wheel is used with motors ranging from 25 to 100 HP and is ideal for high production applications.

The LS 10” Gravity Fed Direct Drive Blast Wheel

The 10” Gravity Fed direct drive blast wheel is designed for long life, optimal performance and simple maintenance. The LS impeller is capable of throwing abrasive at 240 feet per second. The blades and hub are balanced at the factory for minimal vibration and long life. The LS gravity fed impeller eliminates the need for an abrasive reclaim system and abrasive control valves. This reduces the operating and maintenance costs for the shot blaster. The LS blast wheel is ideal for small machines like the LS Industries Mini Blaster.

Indirect Drive Blast Wheels

LS TurboShot™

This indirect drive wheel is available in a single or double configuration and offers several key features. The belt drive isolates any vibration from the blast wheel motor and also acts as a slip clutch allowing the impeller to stop turning should something block the impeller’s rotation.

The LS TurboShot™ wheel is designed for easy maintenance. The impeller can be serviced or completely replaced without removing the motor. Most components of the impeller can be repaired, replaced or maintained using basic hand tools. It is quite simply the most durable, rugged design available today.

The LS TurboShot™ indirect drive wheel is ideal for applications where items are blasted from below. This would include the basket style tumble blasters, the fixtured basket blasters and skew roll pass through machines, such as pipe and rebar blasters. The wheel is gravity fed so there is no need for a bucket elevator to feed the blast wheel. In the cabinet style blasters, there is no need for an abrasive recovery system since gravity does the work. The LS TurboShot™ design is also bi-directional so it works well in applications where reversing the shot pattern provides the optimal material finish.

LS Shot Rotor

The LS Shot Rotor is a very unique blast wheel that works differently than most others. The Rotor is designed to throw an even curtain of shot across the length of the Rotor as it blasts a rotating part. This is ideal for parts that require an even finish without a profile. Works well for engine blocks and heads. Could also work well for a final finishing step to apply a smooth, clean finish to your parts.
